Yew Trees Sheltered Housing
We are situated within a few minutes’ walk from local parks and amenities: GP surgery, hairdressers, “One Stop” convenience store, two chemists, Post Office, Fish & Chips, butchers, local pub and on a bus route to Solihull town centre.
Our flatlets are designed to offer an independent lifestyle for people aged 60 and over in a supportive environment where practical support is at hand and personal care can be arranged separately to meet needs.
In partnership with ISAIL@Sheps we can now offer extra practical help options and personal care support, separate from our tenancy agreements, to enable tenants to remain living independency for as long as possible.
Yew Trees has an attractive setting with accessible gardens to relax in and enjoy. We have 34 single person flatlets across two floors. There is a lift for access to the 2nd floor.
All our flatlets are centrally heated, carpeted and have fully fitted kitchens, built in wardrobe and ample storage space. We have recently refurbished some of our flatlets in response to feedback and have removed the old baths & replaced with safe & easy to use shower trays.
Tenants come and go as freely as they would in their own home. We want to help you keep your independence as long as possible.
The flatlet is able to be filled with your furniture and personal belongings to give it that homely feel. There are lifts between the two floors that the flatlets are situated over.
We know moving home can be stressful and we really care that your new home feels – well – like your home, so we help:
Provide adaptations such as handrails, raised toilet seats
Provide space to store electric scooters
There is onsite maintenance personnel to help keep your home problem free and the grounds are kept looking beautiful by a contracted professional grounds landscaping company.
For those that have an interest in gardening we can provide areas within the grounds for them to continue with this pastime.
Assist with accessing any outside services as required.
You liaise with social services or any other professional body you may need to contact
However, the real benefit comes from being part of the ‘Rayner House and Yew Tree family’. When you move in to your flatlet we:
Provide a fortnightly cleaning service to help maintain your flatlet
Offer a hot meal at lunch time in Sheps day club during the week for days you don’t want to cook and a sandwich service for tea is also available.
Give you a personal pendant which means you can always speak to someone 24 hours a day for support
Give you access to our visiting service providers i.e. Hairdresser, Chiropodist, Optician etc.
The beauty of Yew Trees is that it is a lovely community where you can be involved in as much or as little as you want.
Some of the things that are arranged by the tenants themselves are:
- Bingo Sessions
- Get Togethers (Informal programme with occasional guest speakers)
- Scrabble evenings
- Lunch outings
Organise special social events such as our famous Christmas parties, BBQ’s, Strawberry teas etc.
Offer a bathing assistance service
Hold monthly tenant meetings, so you can talk to us about your needs
